Volunteer Survey & Appreciation Drawing
As our way of thanking you for sharing your time, talents & feedback with the American Folk Festival, if you fill out and submit a volunteer survey by 6pm on Sunday, September 4, 2011 your name will be put in a drawing for prizes that include: a 2011 poster signed by performers, Festival merchandise, and more! The drawing will take place the week of September 6th. Winners will be notified by phone. Prizes will be held at the Festival office through October 31, 2011.
Please make sure you get a survey from a volunteer leader before you leave your shift. 1 survey per volunteer please! After you have filled your survey out, you may drop it in at any of the Festival's donation stations.
An electronic survey will also be available online on the volunteer page from Friday August 26th through Sunday September 4th.
Volunteer Orientation Information
When: Tuesday August 16th
Where: Gracie Theater, Husson University, Bangor
What happens at orientation? Upon check-in, volunteers will get their schedule, parking pass (if needed) and most importantly, their volunteer t-shirt! Following check-in there will be a discussion about the changes to the 2011 AFF, and what you - as a volunteer (and Festival-goer) - need to know. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session. Afterwards, volunteers can say hello to their volunteer leaders (and volunteer friends), and that's it!
Who needs to attend orientation? This year, because of the changes facing the Festival, we are asking all volunteers - both new and returning to attend orientation. It shouldn't take more than an hour of your time. If you live over 1/2 hour away, you aren't expected to attend, but please contact Debbi and she can make sure you get the information you need.
Directions: To drive to Husson, from the north or south, take Interstate 95 to Bangor and take exit 185, Broadway. Turn right off the exit, and go 1/2 mile. At the light just after the Rite Aid, take a left turn on to Husson Ave and proceed to the stop sign. Once you get to Husson, there will be signs pointing you in the right direction.
If you cannot attend orientation, please plan on picking up your schedule, parking pass and t-shirt:
1- on August 23 anytime between 5:00-8pm you can stop by the Gracie Theatre to pick up your volunteer information and t-shirt.
2- on Festival Friday (August 26) between the hours of 11a-3p you can pick up your t-shirt at the Volunteer Registration tent, which is opening early just for this purpose. *We are unable to guarantee you a t-shirt in the size you requested if you pick it up at the Festival.
If you live over 1/2 hour away, you can sign-in and pick up your t-shirt on-site at Volunteer Registration. Your t-shirt will be held for you until noon on Saturday August 27th. Another alternative - if you have a friend/relative coming to orientation you can download the 2011 volunteer waiver, fill it out, and give it to your friend/relative, who can trade it in for your t-shirt at orientation, or on 8/23.
