American Folk Festival

This year, we are expecting over 100,000 visitors to the Bangor Waterfront for the 2010 AFF. Hosting this celebration of music, dance and performing arts from cultural traditions across the globe is truly a community effort. Close to 900 volunteers will be needed to help in all areas of the Festival.

Here's what past volunteers had to say...

"I had a wonderful experience and a great sense of pride participating in this year's Festival. I made some wonderful friends."

"Volunteering was a great way to meet new people and share my enthusiasm for the Festival."

"As my first time volunteering, I was blown away by the positive attitude of the volunteers and the public to the volunteers."

"Loved it! I felt more connected to the Festival."

"It is great! We make it a family affair."

"I volunteered with a buddy and we danced our way through the four hours. It was great!"

We also have a few new volunteer positions that we need to fill this year:

Operations Center Coordinator (1 or 2)

Schedule: full-time (9am – 11pm) Thursday through Sunday. These two crew members cover the phones and radios (including distribution), and conduct office-type support as needed. Also, these people will be asked to maintain a “log” of Operations Center activity, so that these tasks can be covered if the Bangor organization takes on the responsibility locally in future years.  Food is provided.

Technical Production Crew (4-6)

Schedule: Monday through Monday.  Members of the Technical Production crew will fill diverse tasks, including running supplies during the Festival, fire extinguisher distribution, stage dressing & dressing rooms, signage setup, table & chair setup.  Food is provided.

Sound Strike Crew (8-12)

This team works on Sunday evening to strike the sound equipment from all of the Festival’s stages. Must be able to lift and move equipment.  Food is provided.

If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact Debbi at 207.974.3216 or debbi@americanfolkfestival.com.
