Festival Guidelines
The American Folk Festival is committed to fostering a relaxed atmosphere, but there are certain guidelines that we ask all festival-goers to follow to ensure a fun and safe Festival for everyone.
- we love animals too, but for everyone's safety and comfort, leave your pet at home
- the use of inline skates, skateboards and bicycles is discouraged
- no unauthorized vending - if you are not a registered vendor, you cannot sell anything on the Festival grounds
- while on Festival grounds, please keep your cell phone on vibrate, and turn it off during performances
- Smoking under Festival tents is not permitted; and smoking in the open audience
is discouraged, out of respect for your neighbors.
Festival Tips
To have a great Festival experience:
- Plan to see someone you've never heard of - chances are there is a group that will "wow" you!
- Bring your kids and plan to visit the Children's Village.
- Set specific meeting places and times with members of your group. Pick a spot everyone can find easily, like the CD Sales tent.
- Make sure young children have an identification tag of some sort, with their name, your name and cell phone number (if you have one with you at the Festival.)
- Have a plan (place and time to meet) if your children (or adult friends) get lost. FYI- Festival staff and volunteers direct all lost people to the police/first aid compound.
- Park your car at Bass Park and take the free shuttle bus to the Festival. Parking costs only $8/day or $10/weekend.
Don't forget to bring:
- a chair or blanket
- warm clothes (nights can be cool)
- sunscreen, hat, shades
- a donation for the bucket brigade
